Covington supports new investment with local partnership and state-authorized incentive programs — while protecting the character of our historic downtown.

Covington Development Council

The Covington Development Council brings together the Village, local businesses and property owners to attract investment, support existing employers and keep the downtown active. The Council meets regularly and welcomes new participants.

Community Reinvestment Area (CRA)

The Village's Community Reinvestment Area offers real property tax exemptions on the increased value created by qualifying new construction and renovation. Applications are reviewed by the Village before improvements begin.

  • Exemption is on the added value only, not existing value

Downtown Redevelopment District (DRD)

The Downtown Redevelopment District supports the rehabilitation of historic buildings in the downtown core and directs a share of the resulting value toward further redevelopment and small-business support.
